From Monte Verde Farm in El Salvador

This coffee comes from Monte Verde, the farm of fifth-generation coffee producer René Contreras near the Chingo Volcano in the Santa Ana region of El Salvador. The Contreras family has been growing coffee here for more than 100 years, cultivating their fields in the rich volcanic clay soil that makes the region so well-suited for exceptional coffee.

Today, René continues that legacy while working to improve quality through better post-harvest practices and thoughtful cultivation. But his vision extends beyond coffee. Together with his wife and daughter, both physicians, the family hopes to expand access to healthcare in their community by opening clinics that provide prenatal care, diabetes support, and treatment for common illnesses.

They are also working to launch food assistance programs for workers and families in the area. And on the farm itself, an animal sanctuary provides care for sick and injured animals.

Every cup from Monte Verde reflects not just a long coffee tradition, but a family’s commitment to the people and land around them.
